Everything from Marvel at SDCC 2026!
As nerds, SDCC (San Diego Comic Con) is our mecca; even if we are not in attendance, we are anticipating what will be announced and showcased that weekend, so our nerd hearts are excited and full for what's to come. In the past, we have had some amazing breaking news on all our favourite fandoms, upcoming toy lines and future projects. Marvel Studios, since they first started attending Hall H right back in 2007, when they first announced the start of the MCU with Iron Man, have always brought their A-game, and in 2026, they didn’t disappoint. In the past, they have come with grand scales for their future projects, but this year they stripped that all back and only gave us a handful of what to expect, and for me, personally, it worked so much better. Here is everything they announced!
Saturday night, Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, took to the stage to start the presentation with thanks to comic book writers who were in attendance, and reminded the audience that without these guys the MCU doesn’t exist. He also announced the only TV show coming out soon: Vision Quest, as this panel was only about the movies.
Avengers: Endgame Encore It kicked off with the announcement that on September 25th, Marvel will release Avengers: Endgame Encore. A special trailer was shown to the audience, showing old clips from the movie, footage of opening night where audience members went wild, and slides that read “In 2019 one movie brought the world together, Reassemble the team. Return to theaters. Relive the experience. The story continues,” before a new logo and a tease of Doomsday appeared. This release has additional footage that will tie it to Doomsday.
A new Ghost Rider is revealed! Feige then got to make his first big announcement of the night: but if you were paying attention online that day, it had already leaked beforehand; even so, it was still a thrill to have it confirmed that Ryan Gosling will be playing Ghost Rider in 2028 with Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine) directing. According to the pair it was a passion project they discussed while working on their upcoming movie “Star Wars, Starfighter” and it all come together from there.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day The legendary Jon Bernthal took to the stage to remind the crowd that a new Spider-Man movie was hitting cinemas on July 31st.
Avengers: Doomsday What everyone was waiting for that night was to see if anything more would be revealed before December's release. The Russo brothers took to the stage to reveal more of the cast, old and new, even taking up space at the back of the room. Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Simu Liu, James Marsden, David Harbour, Letitia Wright, Lewis Pullman, Kelsey Grammer, Danny Ramirez, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Rebecca Romijn, and Tenoch Huerta Mejía were all in the back. On the main stage, we had Hayley Atwell, confirming she will return as Peggy Carter, as well as Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal. When the cast from the back made their hero walk to the front, they took an epic selfie and answered a couple of audience questions. One audience member with a remarkable grey Deadpool costume appeared with a mic, revealing to be none other than Ryan Reynolds himself, wondering why Thor was crying and when they were starting to film. The interaction was hilarious, making people wonder what it all could mean. Before the cast left, another trailer was shown, adding more footage from what was released previously. Black Panther will return…
It looked like, as the cast were heading out, that the panel was over, but Feige had one more trick up his sleeve. He handed the stage to the amazing, Oscar-winning Ryan Coogler, who was joined by Letitia Wright and Winston Duke. Ryan announced that in 2028, Black Panther 3 will hit cinemas, and that he was bringing a new Black Panther to the screen. Heading to the stage were the long walks and Ailen Romulus David Jonsson who was confirmed as your new Black Panther, T’Challa jnr. A very short and sweet panel from Marvel, not being too over ambiguous as they have been in years past, which, as Marvel fans, we know can see your favourite characters' movie not come to life.
